The 51st running of the SunFair Festival Association Parade has been cancelled.

President Joe Mann commented that “Over the past several days, the EPA has kept a stream of updates going to inform people of the hazards of the smoke haze spreading over our valley.”  He further said that “recently the EPA noted that the effects were becoming much worse to the tune that citizens should err on the cautious side and not venture out.”

Mann said this has led to area schools canceling outdoor activities plus high schools cancelling football games;  in addition high schools have been contacting the SunFair Parade Association to withdraw their drill teams, marching bands and similar with drawing from the parade.”  Many might guess that drill, teams marching bands and are a big part of what makes our SunFair parade bright, noisy and exciting

The Board members conferenced Friday afternoon and drew the conclusion that running the parade this year was not a judicious idea.
